It is hard to believe the fence has already been installed. Our fencing crew whipped around the farm on John Deere gators for three days, reminding me of ants working in an ant hill. It was almost dizzying to watch. Each worker had his job and they obviously were experts at keeping their rhythm and working as a team. On Friday, Dad and I had the chance to move our heifers out onto pastures they had never touched before. It is thrilling to watch our pasture acreage expand and start thinking about how best to manage the grass for the cattle, for the grass, and for us. There is a lot more to do in this entire project, but it feels good to have such a huge project completed and to be able to start sharing our animals with our neighbors who drive by on Hoch Road. We are a local farm. We love our farm. We love our neighbors. And we want our neighbors to love our farm too.
